Mrs. Amanda Ellis, 85, died at her home near Hillsboro Friday evening about 6:30 following a week's illness. A great-nephew, Merle Wilson and family resided with her and cared for her during her illness. The funeral services were held from the Prairie Chapel church near here Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Carrie Bever, of advance, a former pastor, officiating. A mixed quartet composed of Irve Lough, Charles Keling, Mrs. Sadie Moore and Mrs. Opal Storms furnished the music. The pall bearers were: Verlin Ellis, Clarence Moore, Kelsy Thomas, Dee Wilson, Merble Wilson and John Taylor. The flower bearers were: Mrs. Anita Waldon, Mrs. Martha Powell, Mrs. Les Elmore and Mrs. Will McClure. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery in Waynetown with Crumley & Son in charge.

Hillsboro, March 9 - Mrs. Amanda Ellis, aged 85 years, expired at 6:30 o'clock this evening at her home near HIllsboro following a weeks' illness. The deceased was born in Parke County Oct 15, 1848, the daughter of John F. and Barbara Lough Moore. She was married tice, first to Andy Smalley and later to Robert Ellis. Mr. Ellis preceded her in death six years ago. Mrs. ellis had been a resident of the Hillsboro community for a number of years and was well known throughout this vicinity. She was a member of the Prarie Chapel Church south of here. She is survived by one grandson, Harlie Ellis of Veedersburg; one great grandson, Dwain Ellis of Covington; one sister, Mrs. Mate Watson of Crawfordsville; a half-sister, Mrs. Ida Taylor of Crawfordsville and a brother, Ab Moore of South Dakota. Funeral services will be conducted from the Prairie Chapel Church 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rev. Carrie Beaver of Advance officiating. Burial in Masonic Cemetery in Waynetown.
